Shen Yueyue, vice-chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and president of the Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission (GNFCC) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), researched on people-to-people diplomatic work at the GNFCC Secretariat, on Nov 14.

Qi Yu, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), and Cui Li, vice-president of the GNFCC, accompanied Shen during the visit.

Shen pointed out that Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy provides the fundamental guideline for the work of the GNFCC. The commission resolutely implements the guiding principles of President Xi's important speeches made at SCO summits and takes active parts in exchanges and cooperation between China and other SCO countries, yielding fruitful outcomes, according to Shen.

She noted that against the backdrop of unprecedented changes unseen in a century, the GNFCC should acquire a deep understanding of the decisive significance of the establishment of both Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the CPC as a whole, firmly uphold Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the CPC as a whole and uphold the Central Committee's authority and its centralized, unified leadership. With focus on new situations and tasks, and bearing in mind the head-of-state diplomacy as well as domestic and international imperatives, the commission should further leverage its own advantages, break new ground, and create more brand activities, so as to continuously expand people-to-people diplomacy under the framework of SCO, according to Shen.

Qi said that the MFA will continue to provide support to the GNFCC to conduct relevant work under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, in a bid to elevate people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between China and other SCO countries to a new level.
