On July 8, the Green Development Forum of Shanghai cooperation Organization (SCO) Countries kicked off in Qingdao, with the theme of "Joining hands in green development, together promoting harmony between man and nature". This forum is co-hosted by the Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Shandong Provincial People's Government and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Secretariat.

The forum, large in scale with high standard, was attended by about 350 domestic and foreign guests. It is reported that this forum is an important measure to implement the 23rd Meeting of the Council of Heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States. Moreover, it is the first large-scale event held by China after assuming the rotating chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which is of great significance in optimizing the overall diplomatic situation in the surrounding areas, deepening exchanges and cooperation with Central Asian countries, and jointly building a green "Belt and Road".

During the forum, the initiative of "Building the SCO Green Development Partnership, Promoting Sustainable Development Together" was launched, which will promote deeper cooperation among Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries in the fields of green energy, green industry, climate change tackling, and ecological protection, and strengthen consensus on green development.
