The 2024 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Judges Seminar opened at the China National Institute for SCO International Exchange and Judicial Cooperation in Shanghai on Nov 4. Shen Liang, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) of China, spoke at the opening ceremony.
Shen said that judicial exchanges have always been a major aspect of practical cooperation among SCO member states.
He said that the top courts of SCO members have developed exchanges and cooperation in areas such as combating transnational crimes, resolving cross-border trade disputes, strengthening judicial assistance, promoting high-level mutual visits, and enhancing training of judges, achieving a series of important outcomes in the process.
Shen said he hoped that the judicial authorities of SCO members will continue to explore new initiatives and measures to inject fresh vitality into judicial cooperation within the SCO.
More than 20 judges from SCO members including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, along with leading officials from the Shanghai High People's Court and Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, attended the opening ceremony.
The seminar, hosted by the SPC, aims to further strengthen friendly interactions among SCO member states and facilitate the exchange of judicial experience.
