Cui Li, vice-president of the Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission (GNFCC) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), delivered a speech titled "Everyone's Responsibility for A Shared Future" at the International Forum on Public Diplomacy in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, on Nov 18.

Highlighting Chinese President Xi Jinping's vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, Cui noted that the building of an open, inclusive, clean and beautiful world of lasting peace, universal security and shared prosperity is a common aspiration and responsibility of all nations, given their intertwined interests and shared future.

As a specialized organization for promoting people-to-people diplomacy within the SCO framework, the GNFCC is committed to promoting exchanges and cooperation in various fields, uniting friendly forces among the people, and consolidating regional stability and development, she added.

Cui said that, during China's rotating presidency of the SCO, the GNFCC will focus its efforts on next year's SCO Year of Sustainable Development. The GNFCC will align with development priorities, engage in global governance, leverage its role as a social organization to gather public support, strengthen traditional friendships, deepen pragmatic cooperation and expand channels for people-to-people exchanges, in a bid to contribute to the creation of a harmonious SCO family, she said.

Andrey Yuryevich Belyaninov, secretary-general of the Eurasian and African Peoples' Assembly of Russia, chaired the forum, while Ruslan Nikolayevich Kukharuk, governor of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra, delivered welcoming remarks, and Konstantin Iosifovich Kosachev, deputy chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, addressed the forum.

Dmitry Volvach, Russian deputy minister of economic development, and Yevgeny Primakov, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo (Russia's Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation), sent congratulatory letters to the forum.

Representatives from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Civic Chamber, former SCO secretary-general Rashid Kutbiddinovich Alimov, as well as heads of people-to-people diplomacy institutions from SCO countries, and representatives from international organizations, diplomatic missions and various communities of society, attended the forum.

Prior to the opening ceremony, participants visited an exhibition of the Yugra Economic Forum to learn about the development of Khanty-Mansiysk in industries such as oil and gas, timber, and information technology.
