Cui Li, vice-president of the Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission (GNFCC) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), met with Ouch Borith, acting president of the Cambodia's Senate, in Phnom Penh on March 4. The two sides discussed strengthening people-to-people exchanges between China and Cambodia within the SCO framework. Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin also attended the meeting.

Noting that China and Cambodia are good friends who reach out to each other through thick and thin, Cui said the building of a China-Cambodia community with a shared future has entered a new era that is high-quality, high-level and high-standard under the strategic guidance of leaders of both countries. She added that China is willing to work with Cambodia to continuously consolidate the friendship between the two countries under the guidance of the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries.

The third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has opened a new chapter for the advancement of Chinese modernization, which also brings new opportunities for the development of China-Cambodia relations, Cui noted.

As the rotating presidency of the SCO this year, China is willing to work with other SCO countries including Cambodia to actively promote the "Shanghai Spirit," continuously enhance the friendship among the people of all SCO countries, and better promote people-to-people connectivity within the SCO family, she added.

Ouch Borith extended a warm welcome to Cui and the Chinese delegation. He said China is an iron-clad friend of Cambodia with a long-standing friendship between the two peoples. Cambodian leaders highly value relations with China and appreciate China's strong support for Cambodia's economic and social development, he noted.

Ouch added that Cambodia values its status as a dialogue partner of the SCO, and is willing to take China's rotating presidency of the SCO as an opportunity to actively participate in various activities within the SCO framework, and to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the GNFCC in areas such as healthcare, culture, education, and youth development.
