Cui Li, vice-president of the Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission (GNFCC) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), visited Nepal from March 5 to 8, at the invitation of the Nepal China Cultural and Educational Council (NCCEC). Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song accompanied the Chinese delegation in related activities.
During her visit, Cui held discussions with NCCEC President Harish Chandra Shah on deepening people-to-people exchanges and cooperation. She noted that the healthy and stable development of China-Nepal relations has created significant opportunities for people-to-people cooperation between the two countries, which has laid a solid foundation of public support for the long-term development of bilateral relations.
With joint efforts, the people-to-people friendship between the two countries has been continuously deepened, significantly enhancing bonds between the two peoples and traditional friendship between the two countries, Cui added.
As China holds the rotating presidency of the SCO this year, Cui said the GNFCC is ready to work closely with the NCCEC under the theme of the "SCO Year of Sustainable Development" to expand cooperation areas and deepen cultural exchanges, jointly writing a new chapter in the people-to-people friendship within the SCO family and between China and Nepal.

During her stay, Cui visited the Confucius Institute at Tribhuvan University and met with Khadga K.C., rector of Tribhuvan University. She emphasized that young people are the inheritors of China-Nepal friendship and a vital force in promoting people-to-people cooperation between the two countries. To promote cooperation with the university, Cui, on behalf of the GNFCC, donated 100 Chinese books to the Confucius Institute to help students gain a deeper understanding of SCO countries.
While visiting the Confucius Institute, Cui invited the faculty and students of the university to participate in cultural exchange activities organized by the GNFCC in China, so as to deepen friendship among the younger generation in both countries.

The Nepalese side warmly welcomed Cui and her delegation on their visit and spoke highly of the progress in Nepal-China relations. They looked forward to further strengthening cooperation with China within the bilateral and SCO frameworks, and pledged active participation in various events hosted by China during its rotating presidency of the SCO, so as to contribute to sustaining traditional bilateral friendship and advancing the people-to-people friendship between the two countries and within the SCO.
