As an important cultural exchange activity under China's presidency of the SCO, the exhibition aligned with the SCO Year of Sustainable Development. It featured 118 artworks by children from 13 SCO countries, covering six major topics—colorful cultures, future technology, celebration of harvest, green development and environmental protection, beautiful Earth, and cherishing peace. These artworks transcended linguistic and national boundaries, forming a vibrant and inclusive cultural tapestry. Beyond showcasing unique regional characteristics of SCO countries, these pieces highlighted children's artistic perspectives and their reflections on peace, development, and environmental protection.
Children represent the future of the SCO. The exhibition demonstrated the sincere friendship and shared dreams of children from SCO countries, fostered mutual understanding and friendship, and promoted the concept of "harmony in diversity" among children, which has injected new vitality into substantiating traditional friendship, deepening people-to-people bonds, and promoting the prosperity of the SCO family.
As this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, the exhibition featured a special section dedicated to cherishing peace. In this section, children expressed their aspirations for peace and friendship through symbolic representations of peace doves and olive branches, contributing their youthful strength to the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
The Children's Art Exhibition of SCO Countries, a flagship cultural event of the GNFCC, has been held in various cities across SCO countries, including Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming, Wuhan, Qingdao, Dunhuang, Tashkent, Dushanbe, and Samarkand. It aims to promote deep-rooted friendship and people-to-people bonds within the SCO through the artworks of the younger generation.
This year's exhibition was hosted by the GNFCC, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and the SCO Secretariat, and organized by the Art and Public Education Research Center of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and the China Intercontinental Communication Center. It received significant support from Chinese embassies in other SCO countries, and saw active participation of non-governmental organizations across SCO countries.
