Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Green and Sustainable Development Forum from April 28 to 30, marking a key international gathering focused on advancing green growth and regional cooperation.
The forum is jointly organized by the SCO Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission, China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government.
It will bring together more than 300 participants, including officials from SCO member states, environmental authorities, diplomats, representatives of international organizations, business leaders, scholars, and media.
As China's first SCO people-to-people diplomacy event of the year, the forum is expected to play a significant role in promoting practical cooperation in green development and accelerating low-carbon transformation across the region.
Key activities include an opening ceremony, a main forum, and three parallel sessions focusing on green cooperation for global sustainability, biodiversity protection through inclusive governance, and technological innovation for green transformation. Discussions will cover topics such as climate governance, industrial decarbonization, ecological policies, and a green technology-driven energy transition.
During the event, the Ningbo initiative for SCO sustainable development cooperation will be released to foster a broader consensus. A children's art exhibition and themed showcases will also highlight shared visions of a greener future, while site visits will offer participants a closer look at Zhejiang's achievements in ecological development and modernization.
